One who trusts in H'shem will be rewarded for trusting H'shem even if his livelihood is withheld from him. As the Creator said of our forefathers in the wilderness who were in a similar situation, "The people shall go out and gather that day's portion each day" Furthermore if his livelhood comes to him in one way and not another in one place and not another through one individual and not another he should say to himself The One Who craeatd me in a certain form and image with a certain nature and disposition to the exclusion of the other forms nature and qualities as this is best for me He has chosen that my livelihood come to me in the ways most suitable for me and not in other ways The One Who brought me into this world in a certain place and by means of two particlar individual from among all the people in the world He has determined that I earn a living in a certain land and through a certain individual whom he has made a means to my liveihood for my benefit pg 419
Once, on a Motzoei Shabbos, the chasidim were sitting in the bais medrash of the Ruzhiner Rebbe zy”a for Melave Malka. Suddenly, the Rebbe opened the door of his room next to the bais medrash, stood at the entrance, and said, “The Baal Shem Tov was not a deity, and the zaida, the Magid, was not just an ordinary wagon driver. And once, when the holy Baal Shem Tov prayed, his talis fringe fell out of his gartel and dragged on the floor. The Magid approached, picked it up, and put it back in the gartel, but he was trembled with such tremendous fear that he fainted and his life was in danger. They were compelled to rouse the Baal Shem Tov from his deep dveikus in order to calm him.” He then added, “I told you that the Baal Shem Tov was not a deity and my zaida, the Magid, was no wagon driver.
