H'shem

The second error one makes is in his thinking that all the wealth he acquires is meant for his own sustenance.  He does not realize that there are three types of income.  First, there is income for one's own needs.  This GD assures to every creature that has a spark of life to the end of his days.  Second is income for the needs of others e.g. wife, children servants attendants, and the like.  This is not promised by GD to all people but only to a select few under certain conditions.  It is something that may happen at one time and not at another according to the dictates of the Creator's way of kindness and justice.                                                                                                ...

It would have been his

A king for example supports his army and servants   So also high officials minsistrs of state and deputies are surrounded by groups of their servants attendants official wives and relatives.  They make every effort to raise money for their dependents employing means that are good and bad.  The ignorant one among them commits three errors.  First in accumulating wealth, he takes by shameful and wicked methods what the Creator decreees is his to take had he sought it by decent means he would have realized his goals and aspirations succeeded in his religious as well as secular affairs and what the Creator had decreed for him would not have been diminished in the least.

Segulah M. Shabbat

“The Ba’al Shem Tov,  interprets  a  pasuk  in  Parshat   Mishpatim  as follows:  ‘Ki tireh’  — when you will come to the realization that —  ‘chamor’ — the physical matter of the body (related to the word  chomer ), is —  ‘sonacha’ — your enemy — because he is engaged in attaining physical pleasures, and thus, hates the  neshamah  which is striving for G‑dliness and a high spiritual level — [and the body is]  ‘roveitz tachat masa’o’  — lying under his burden not wanting to get up and serve Hashem —  ‘vechadalta mei’azov lo’  — you may think that you will begin to torture him and deny him the food he needs. Be advised that this is a wrong approach. Instead,  ‘azov ta’azov imo’  — help him! Give him his bodily needs and attune your mind and soul to worship Hashem. Eventually, your body will become purified and cooperate in your worship.” chabad.org Once the yetzer hara asked Rebbe ...

Trust

If no more than his subsistence has been decreed for him even if all those in heaven and on earth were to try to increase it they would not succeed in any way or by any means.  And if he trusts in GD he will find peace of mind and tranquility of soul for his allotted portion will not be transferred to another nor will it come earlier or later than the appointed time.   Sometimes the Creator so orders it that many people obtain their livelihood through one person in order to test that individual whether he will serve GD or rebel against Him for such a position presents him with one of the most powerful sources of trial and temptation a person could face pg 411

Only turs in H'shem

When a person trusts in GD He will cure him of his illness by natural means or without such means.  He may even heal him by means of something very harmful as you know from the account of Elisha and the bad water when he cured it unwholesomeness with salt. (Melachim) and other examples.   The proper way of relying on GD in possessions and income is for one to engage in whatever occupation the Creator has prepared for him to the extent necessary for his maintenance and sustenance to attain what suffices him in this world.  If the Creator ordains more for him it will come to him without trouble or effort provided he relies on GD for it and does not overly pursue (natural) means or rely on them in his heart.

Segulah of M. Shabbat

Chassidim say of the Baal Shem Tov that he would travel around the little towns and villages of Eastern Europe, asking Jews how they were. However poor or troubled they were, invariably they would reply,  Baruch H'shem . It was an instinctive expression of faith, and every Jew knew it. They might have lacked the learning of the great Talmudic scholar, or the wealth of the successful, but they believed they had much to thank H'shem for, and they did so. When asked what he was doing and why, the Baal Shem Tov would reply by quoting the verse: “You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel”  (Psalm 22:4 ). So every time a Jew says  Baruch Hashem , they are helping to make a throne for the Shechinah, the Divine Presence. rabbisacks.org The Gemara says that one should always say praise to the Master fist.  This refers to the first three berachos of Shemoneh Esrei where we say praises to H'shem declaring Him our head.  It is for this reason that these blessi...

No trust

A person should place his trust in the Creator in regard to health and illness while seeking continued health through natural means.  He should fight illness in the customary way as the Creator May He be exalted has commanded yet have no faith in the power of the natural causes of health and illness to help or harm except with GD's permiss ion

Place your trust in H'shem

If a man fails to secure a livelihood by the means he has employed the reason may be that he already has in his possession provisions for the day or that it will come to him through other means.   Whatever the case one should engage in the means to a livelihood and not be lax in pursuing them provided that they are suited to his personality body faith and class.  At the same time, he should place his trust in GD that He will not abandon him neglect him or ignore him. pg 407

Motzei Shabbat Segulah

The Maggid of Mezeritch says in the name of the Baal Shem Tov. At the time of the creation of the world all the objects of nature were created on the condition that they obeyed the will of righteous men, even if it ran counter to their normal physical laws. So that if they did not do so, not only would they cease to exist: It would be as if they had never been created. In other words, had the Red Sea not divided, it would not only never have water again, its whole previous existence would be obliterated. So that when the verse tells us “the sea returned to its former strength,” it is conveying that in the fulfilling of its agreement with G‑d it both assured its future continuity and at the same time ratified its past existence Before the Baal Shem Tov began to teach Chassidism, people regularly practiced self-affliction—excessive fasts and even rolling in the snow—as part of their Divine service. The purposes for these afflictions were: (a) to teach the body obedience, so it would agre...

I am amazed

One of the pious said: I am amazed by one who after giving to his fellow what the Creator has decreed shall belong to the latter then reminds the latter of the great favor he has done for him and expects to be thanked for this   I am even more amazed by one who receives his livelihood from another person who is bound to provide it to him and yet the recipient humbles himself before the provider compliments him and praises him.

Thank H'shem

He should not think that it (source of income) can be of more use to him than had already been determined by the Creator  Instead of exulting in one's devotion to his profession and in the efforts he has invested in it one should thank the Creator Who gave him sustenance after he had exerted himself and did not allow his toil and trouble to be in vain

It has already been determined

If one obtains his livelihood by one of the various means that he has employed he should not grow to rely on that source becoming enarmed and obsessed with it and yield his heart to it for then his reliance on   GD will be weakened.  He should not think that it can be of more use to him than had already been determined by the Creator.

The Noam Elimelech in his Sefer MiPeninei Noam Elimelech writes "Performing a Mitzvah is like a salvation for the Shechinah the Divine presence since HaKadosh Baruch Hu is united with His Shechinah through the performance of the commandments".  " Ayin " refers to the  sefira  of  keter , which contains a revelation of the Divine Being completely beyond human perception, just as a crown is above the mind of the wearer. " Ayin " therefore means, "Nothingness," since it transcends human cognition, and can only be accessed through mystical self-annulment. The Baal Shem Tov taught that a person should never pray for his own needs, but only for the fulfillment and redemption of the  Shechina , for when the Divine Presence is rectified, so are all of her "limbs", which are the individual components of Creation. chabad.org Leilui Nishmat H'Baba Sali Hakadosh Baba is Arabic for “father” or “grandfather” and Sali is said to be either a cont...
