One who does not trust in GD

One who does not trust in GD relies on the means and puts his confidence in them. He cannot refrain from any of them and will engage in those that are admirable as well as those that are reprehensible, giving no thought to his final condition.

One who trusts in GD

One who trusts in GD occupies himself with worldly means in order to provide for his latter end, his final destination. Only when he is sure that a certain occupation is safe for his religious and secular interests will he engage in it.  He will not take up a profession that might in any way damage his religious life or lead to disobedience of the Creator so as not to bring upon himself sickness instead of health.

Avraham Avinu was told that his future descendants would descend to Mitzrayim and remain there for four hundred years. They would be enslaved and oppressed, and eventually leave with great wealth. The Lubavitcher Rebbe points out that money could never compensate for the torture the Jews suffered in Mitzrayim. Therefore, the wealth must be related to the actual purpose of the Jews’ descent to Mitzrayim – and this descent begins with Parshat Vayigash. The Lubavitcher Rebbe explains why it was so important that the Jews leave with the wealth of the Egyptians with a concept that runs throughout the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov – the concept of elevating sparks of   kedusha , holiness. Within each person, place, and object, there is an enlivening Godly force, and nothing can exist without this enlivening soul. As Jews , our task in this world is to find this Godly force and release its holiness into the physical world. In addition, each of us shares a spiritual root with specific pe...

M. Shabbat Segulah The Day of Judgment — for those who still need more time

Day of Judgment — for those who still need more time, the Baal Shem Tov explains, Zos Chanukah is the final gemar hachasimah. Mature people are moved to teshuvah through the fear of the Yamim Noraim. Smaller people, who freeze under pressure, come closer to Hashem through the joy of Succos. But for those who are spiritually numb and experience neither the awe nor the joy, there is Zos Chanukah. You couldn’t leap to heaven, but you can plod day by day. You can make concrete changes in your daily routine to show Hashem that you do want to grow, despite the fact that you aren’t as inspired as you want to be. And thereby we can all merit a good year. As heard from Rav Moshe Wolfson mishpacha.com "And it came to pass at the end of two years to the day, Pharaoh was dreaming." The holy Torah is hinting at this bitter exile where the nations of the world stand over us to detoy us and H'shem saves us from their hands  Mipeninei Noam Elimelech  Reb Eliezer of Dzhikov says in...

Maran Rav Steinman zt"l The four challenging students in the class earn him his olam haba.

Maran Rav Steinman zt"l once told educators: "The four top students in the class give the teacher his olam hazeh. The four challenging students in the class earn him his olam haba. And the rest of the class? That's what he gets paid for." There's an incredible insight here. The real eternal reward comes specifically from the challenging ones. Not rushing to expel them hoping for some peace and quiet, but truly approaching them with a warm Jewish heart, trying to identify their pain and address their struggles. That's where the educator's olam haba really comes from

There is a   segula   from the   Ramban   for after lighting the   Chanukah   lights to say the verse from   Psalms : " May the graciousness of the L·rd our G·d be upon us ,"   ( Psalms 90:17) ,   repeating each word seven times. This is very good to do. My Master, the  Baal Shem Tov , told us to say both this Psalm and Psalm 91, " He who dwells in the covert of the Most High " seven times straight. He would also do so on the High Holy Days and in all times of trouble. One should meditate on the two-letter   nun 's. chabad.org Reb Elimelech of Lizhensk and Chanukah Teachings The Noam Elimelech addressed Chanukah in his discourses and writings, interpreting the essence of the holiday through the lens of Chassidic Torah, with emphasis on: "Chanu" - They rested on the 25th: The name Chanukah interpreted as "Israel rested from their enemies on the 25th of Kislev," but also as "chanu" from the language of encampment - a hint to a...

Before he knows it, he loses his money and is left destitute

But to one who does not trust in GD, the world and all that is in it does not seem sufficient to provide for him and satisfy his needs. He is more careful in saving his money than in fulfilling his duties to the Creator and to his fellowmen. Before he knows it, he loses his money and is left destitute pg 451

Once, on a Motzoei Shabbos, the chasidim were sitting in the bais medrash of the Ruzhiner Rebbe zy”a for Melave Malka. Suddenly, the Rebbe opened the door of his room next to the bais medrash, stood at the entrance, and said, “The Baal Shem Tov was not a deity, and the zaida, the Magid, was not just an ordinary wagon driver. And once, when the holy Baal Shem Tov prayed, his talis fringe fell out of his gartel and dragged on the floor. The Magid approached, picked it up, and put it back in the gartel, but he was trembled with such tremendous fear that he fainted and his life was in danger. They were compelled to rouse the Baal Shem Tov from his deep dveikus in order to calm him.”  He then added, “I told you that the Baal Shem Tov was not a deity and my zaida, the Magid, was no wagon driver. Still and all, when he touched the Besht’s garment, he fainted from fear. The entire world is Hashem’s garment. How much fear must we feel to touch this world!”  May the memory of the...

One who trusts in GD
