The strongest factor in his being denied

If you appoint two people to do the same job you are putting your trust in both and are assuming one of them will complete the task.  In actually if two people know that they are not the only one responsible they will naturally assume the other is doing the work and they will end up falling short of their obligation.   When it comes to trusting in H'shem, Rabbenu Bachya teaches us that  if someone puts their trust in H'shem and someone or something else, such as the doctor, lawyer, fund raiser, job, nature, his own talents and abilities,.. H'shem then removers his Hashgacha from the person and they will fail in the hands of what they trusted in.  This is such a strong point  that Rabbenu Bachya exclaims, "This will be the strongest factor in his being denied the object of his trust" pg 379 and 381

With all your heart

Rabbenu Bachya brings a very important point in his next statement.  "It is improper for him to profess in his speech that he trust in GD if he does not trust in Him in his heart and inner self"  We know that there is an Inyan to "first put on the garb and eventually it will inspire the soul"  Rabbenu Bachya is making a point,  that one must review over and over again the  principles of trust in the Boreh Olam that we find in this Sefer as well as others, until he completely trusts H'shem  in his heart. It is not enough to say I will talk about trust and it will eventually seep in, a person must understand his OBLIGATION to constantly work on his emunah and trust.  H'shem can see into your heart pg379 Harav Wolbe brings down in his Sefer באמונתו יחיה  in the name of the רא"ש  "His eyes are on every man's path, He test the heart, and interrogates the kidney's  ( to see who is really a believer) pg 61

Nothing is hidden

A person must understand that nothing is hidden. A person's thoughts, abilities, intentions are all visible to the Creator.  One must work on a real deep connection with Him.  As important as it is to use phrases such as B'Ezrat H'shem and Boruch H'shem it is even more important to review, embed and deepen ones trust and understanding of who the Boreh Olam is and how involved He is in the world and one's life.  As Rabbenu Bachya writes "The Creator is watching him, ..nothing is hidden..neither outer nor inner life..his outer appearances nor his inner convictions. He knows whether a person's trust in Him is sincere or not." pg 379

Has the Geula really begun!!

The Torah world is a buz and I will be honest I did not believe it till I saw it and heard it for myself.     This week we had an unbelievable thing happen in the holiest place on earth.   At the Kotel area where the Reform prayer has been taking place one of the stones fell out of the wall and missed a woman by inches. Nine different times nations tried to destroy the Kotel and failed. H’shem promised us that the Kotel wall would never be destroyed. The entire world is talking about Eretz Yisroel. Even Vladamir Putin asked Rishon L’Tzion  Reb. Yitchok Yosef   ‘How is it that so many world nations came and went?’   As the Rav was about to answer Putin stopped him and said ’ I will tell you.   Because of you, the Rabbis and the Torah of Am Yisroel! This is what is keeping you   alive.’ The Hagada tell us that Yeravam ben Nevat was the first king of the northern Kingdom of Israel he reined for 22 years, practicing witchery and...

A time to... A time....

We are  familiar with the text in Kohelet " A time to be born a time to die...war...peace..."  Rabbenu Bachya comments on this as such the "Creator's ways of judgment are too hidden, deep and exalted for us to arrive at knowledge of their particulars certainly not of their general principles". pg 377 and 379 A concrete principle of Trust in GD is that He will do what is good and that we must trust Him in every situation.  It is also the basic knowledge that He knows better then we do.  That this is His world and He know how to run it perfectly.  Applying this principle with the concrete knowledge that H'shem loves YOU more then anything else in the world and knows you understands you and would do ANYTHING for you is what allows you to give over your "control" in your life and be at peace that H'shem knows what He is doing and you can fully trust in Him.   That understanding alone is a HUGE Segulah to see the Yeshua imminently for that is all ...

Connection between the "Blood Moon and Tu B'Av

Question This Friday is Tu B’ Av , said to be the happiest day on the Jewish calendar. Oddly enough, I read that on that night, not only will there be a lunar eclipse, but in some parts of the world (mainly Africa, Asia and the Middle East) stargazers will see the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century, also known as a “blood moon.” Does that have any significance? Is this something to worry about? I have seen some religious groups claim that this is a sign of terrible calamities to come. Reply In describing future events, the prophet  Joel  foretells that “[ G‑d ] will set wonders in the heavens and the earth: blood and fire and pillars of smoke; the sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of G‑d. 1 ” There is much discussion in the commentaries about the meaning of this prophecy. Many explain it to be allegorical. However, the biblical commentator Rabbi  David  Kimchi (known as the  RaD...

Segulot and Tefilot for Tu B'Av

אמר רבי שמעון בן גמליאל: לא היו  ימים טובים לישראל כימי ט”ו באב  וכיום הכיפורים, שבהן בנות ירושלים יוצאות בכלי לבן שאולין שלא לבייש את מי שאין לו…  1."Fifteen Av" = Gematria 928 comes out " כתיבה וחתימה טובה " 2.From Tu B'Av to the New Year of Creation, the birth of the world that occurs on the 25th of Elul is 40 days and is called the 40 Days of conception. 3.On Tu B'Av, special couples and singles are made and the flaws of פגמי הברית can be corrected. 4.On the 15th of Av, all those who were forbidden to immigrate to Eretz Israel were stopped and every year on Tisha B'Av, 15,000 Jews from Egypt died of the sin of the spies in the last year of the 40 years on Tu B'Av.    A day of atonement for the sin of the spies 5 .The Sages permitted after many years that the daughters of one tribe who inherited an inheritance could marry another tribe.   6.On the fifteenth of Av, Avoda Zara was abolished by two calves laid by Jeroboam ben Nebat in...

What He decided is what is good

A person is only exhausting himself when he tries to increase  or decrees what H'shem has decreed is good for him.  Rather then try  to change what H'shem has decided, he should increase his work in coming closer to the Boreh Olam and Avodat H'shem.   One who does not work on growing in Torah and serving his creator  Rabbenu Bachya writes,  "he reflects a lack of recognition of the true nature of His knowledge and ignorance of the beneficence of His government" pg377

The force behind nature

Rabbenu Bachya has finished reviewing the seven qualities that make is possible to trust. He explains that anything in the world is actually " to weak and insignificant to bring about change or transformation in the essence of things.   (such as)  We perceive that a single grain produces ten thousand grains, or nearly that number.   Can anyone fail to recognize that the force (inherent) in the grain is insufficient to produce this amount?...The same applies to generation of a human being". pg377 In summation what looks like nature is actually just the outcome, the forces behind it start from way up high.

Never too much Never too little

"No one can increase what He decreed to be few, or diminish what He decreed to be many  No one can postpone what He decreed to move forward, or advance what He decreed to delay". pg 377 The Chofetz Chaim would often say, not only is nothing lost by observing Shabbos but rather, Shabbos is the true source of all bracha (blessing). The story is told that the Chofetz Chaim visited the city of Chernikov. A wealthy Jew living there kept his factory open on Shabbos employing a number of other Jews. In response to the Chofetz Chaim's request that he close his factory on Shabbos, the man haughtily replied, "I earn 4,000 rubles a day! Do you really think that I'd give up such a sum of money every week for Shabbos?!" The Chofetz Chaim explained to him that he was greatly mistaken. Observing Shabbos would not cause a loss at all. On the contrary, he warned, continuing to desecrate the Shabbos could cause him to lose far more than 4,000 rubles. Why, the Chofetz Chaim ...

What do you see

Rabbenu Bachya stresses that one should be aware of how good H'shem has been to him raising him from birth "without his deserving it and not out of any need to do so but, rather as a gift, a favor and a grace" pg 377 Life has challenges for everyone but it also has amazing gifts.  If we see the good in every Jew we may just see the good in ourselves as too. May we merit to have Achdus and see the Binyan Bet Hamikdash Bimihara Biyamenu Amen.

The Creator Alone

Rabbenu Bachya teaches us that once a person comes to realize that there is no one and nothing that can help him or harm him other then with the permission of the Creator,   "He will turn his heart away from fear of them or hope in them and will trust in the Creator alone"  pg375 "HaGaon Rav Chayim Volozhin (Nefesh HaChayim III:12-13) cites the Gemara in Chullin Daf 7b which teaches that if a person internalizes the Pasuk: אין עוד מלבדו -Ein Od Milvado  "Hashem, He is G-d, there is nothing else beside Him(Devarim 4:35) he will be protected from harmful forces. When one accepts Hashem's absolute sovereignty he places himself fully under His protective wing. Although nature contains many destructive elements, the man of faith understands that they are but marionettes in the hands of the Creator." http://www.divreichizuk.com/id24.html

Trust exclusively What about Free Will

"No one can benefit or hurt either himself or anyone else except with the permission of the Creator....If only one (Master) of them can benefit or harm him, he must place his trust exclusively in that persons since he does not expect help from anyone else". PG 375 Is there Free Will to do to others or have done to us as a Human feels? Rabbenu Bachya answers this complex heavily debated issue as such: "We should act as would act one who believes that a man's actions are left to his free will, and that he will be rewarded and punished for them.  Hence we should make every effort in all that will be of help to us before the Creator in both worlds.  At the same time, we should trust in GD with the trust of one who is certain that all actions and movements, benefit and harm, are predetermined by GD under His authority and by His sentence that GD may He be exalted has a conclusive claim against man, while man has no claim against GD may he be exalted." He oversees / יום הילולת האר"י הקדוש

"He oversees the governance of all Human beings...none of their affairs, small or great are hidden from Him" pg 375 "All of my lofty spiritual achievements were attained through joy in the performance of a Mitzvah" The Arizal https://emunadaily.com/2016/02/12/how-the-arizal-became-the-arizal/ לאר"י היו מידות אציליות ונעלות, אך העיד על עצמו שכל מה שזכה היה בזכות שמחה של מצווה.

His word is absolute

"He is the strongest of all the strong His word is absolute No one can reverse His sentence." PG 373 The professor told his class, "Only believe what you see. If you see a desk, you know it exists...However if you can't see GD, then you know He does not exist."  One student whispered "Do you see the professors BRAIN?" A life of Bitachon, Rabbi Yitzchak Dwek PG 75

The Creator Knows His Work

Would you argue that the author of a book lacks the knowledge of what is best for his characters.  Can anyone know them, love them, understand them better than their creator.  How much more so the creator of all things, knows, understands, feels, controls recognizes all needs big and small of every creation he has brought into being.as it says "None of the ways in which man's welfare is furthered are unknown to the Creator. He is without a doubt absolutely wise and all knowing in what is beneficial or harmful or good for man in this world and the next". pg 373

Complete Trust in H'shem

Rabbenu Bachya breaks down in to 5 comprehensions what would bring a person to completely Trust in H'shem: The First: The 7 attributes that we have just finished reviewing and learning at length are all found in the Master of the Universe and NO ONE ELSE.  The first being that H'shem is THE MOST compassionate being in the entire Universe and beyond.  When you see someone who is acting with  compaction and generosity know that it is because he has connected himself to THE source and it is really coming from H'shem.

Hilula Aaron H'Kohen

Aaron H'koen's Yur Tziet is tonight Rosh Chodesh Av.  When Arron was taken to Shamayim by a Divine kiss, we lost the Ananay H'kavod the symbol of protection, peace and tranquility that carried us through the Midbar.  Aaron was revered admired and loved for his exceptional Midos Ben Adam L'Chavaro as well as Ben Adam L'Makom.  Never being jealous of his younger brother's fame and  success, Never uttering a word or questioning H'shem's judgement when his children were taken.  For the past number of weeks we have been learning the Torah portions that have been full of disappointment, hate, jealously, pride, seemingly unconscionable actions from such a Kadosh people.  We must learn from Aaron H'Kohen whether we fall or have a tragedy or disappointment Chas Vishalom upon us there is only one direction.  Keep moving forward. Get up wipe yourself off take the best lesson you can and push even harder to achieve your goals. As the saying goes  'It is not ...

What to trust

Rabbenu Bachya summarizes all the attributes of H'shem and exclaims that now that it is clear He will trust in Him Surrender himself completely to Him Leave the guidance of his life to HIm Never suspect His judgment  Not be angered at what He has chosen for him pg 371

Generosity is Universal

"His generosity is universal and His kindness is all embracing" pg 371 The Chazon Ish warns us not to fall into the trap of Bitachon that is forgery.  To talk and lecture about Bitachon, but in your heart and your actions you are, jealous, scared, angry, out for #1..."

Gain and Loses

“Gain and loses are NOT controlled by man, but are in the hands of the creator alone.” Pg371 Rav Chatzkal Levenstein, zt"l, the Mashgiach of the Ponevezh Yeshiva, (Ohr Yechezkel - Emunah) writes: The first step towards Emunah is to internalize this first principle of the Rambam. Hashem, alone, is the Creator. He made EVERYTHING. Everything you see around you, He made it. He created it, out of nothing. And He is still involved. Nothing that happens on this planet is coincidental. Whatever success or set back you suffer is decreed in Shomayim. Whether you land the contract, or lose your customers; whether you get the job you so wanted, or your investments plunge into the basement; nothing just happens. It is all orchestrated by a very specific direct involvement of Divine supervision. That's Emunah.
