121 He is the life of the universe

"Sustenance is in His power and under His control" One should NEVER think that his support comes from his employment or guarantors rather only from the hand of H'shem, in anyway and at any time that He sees fit.  No one can help or harm him other than H'shem who promised to support man.   pg 405 Nefesh Hachaim Rambam teaches that the universe is "one being" All the different parts are the equivalent to the different limbs and organs of a human being and it's source is GD, at it states: He is "the life of the universe." Gate 2 Chapter 5 pg 83

120 Do what is necessary

In every area of life, health, wealth, necessities and comforts one must follow the following directive.  He must do what is necessary to succeed, the entire time trusting in H'shem that "sustenance is in His power and under His control".  pg 405 Nefesh Hachim The higher and lower worlds are built in the same arrangement as one's limbs and organs including the way they are attached to each other . GD is the soul of the world and is hidden within it , as is the soul that fills the body and is likewise concealed with in it. Gate 2 Chapte 5 pg 83.

119 If you see Him

If one requires a miracle to save him, that miraculous event will be deducted from his merits in Shamayim.  409 Nefesh Hachaim Our ability to "see" H'shem is only due to His desire to relate to us and His involvement in this world. Gate 2 Chapter 5 pg 83

118 Take precautions

Shmuel went on his journey aware of the dangers, so he consulted with H'shem on how to protect himself.   Shmuel Hanavi, was in direct contact with H'shem and was acting on His command and still umderstood the need to take precautions how much more so every human being. pg405 Nefesh Hachaim The likeness the soul has with H'shem is He encompasses the entire world and the soul fills the entire body. Gate 2 Chapter 5 pg 82/83

117 He is a thief

When one is faced with an unavoidable danger, even if it was commanded to him by GD as in the case of  Shmuel Hanavi, he is responsible to take every precaution to protect himself and not rely on his Bitachon in H'shem to protect him. This is illustrated to us by H'shem acknowledging Shmuel's fear, responding to it and not dismissing the need to take precautions. pg 403 Nefesh Hachaim   One who does not Bench after eating is called by the Sages a thief because the act of making a Bracha sends an abundance of Shefa down to the world.  The Bracha does not affect H'shem since that is impossible, it increases the blessings that are sent down to the world by the way it uplifts the higher worlds, and so one who withholds the blessing from the world is in affect stealing the potential from everyone.  Gate 2 Chapter 4 pg 81/82

116 Take care of the gift

If a person dies as a result of his carelessness it is as though he committed suicide. Suicide in the Torah is considered murder, the closer one is to the victim of the murder the more he is held accountable and punished. Our lives are a gift entrusted to us by GD and we must be careful at all costs.  That being said if he died (GD forbid) it was in accordance with GD's decree and permission. pg403 Nefesh Hachaim We are forbidden to relate to the "H'shem" that was before creation.  Since He chooses to relate to us we are allowed to call out to that attribute.  The format of a Bracha relates to both aspects and its purpose is to beg H'shem that His rule be infinite and Kingship be revealed and visible. Gate 2 Chapter 4 pg 81

115 A person may not put himself in harm's way

A person is not allowed to put himself in danger or harm's way, be it in how he acts, or what he eats.  As it says in Devarim "Do not try GD." A person may not rely on Bitachon for his chances of survival or death either are not guaranteed. pg 401/403 Nefesh Hachaim The Anshe Kneset Hagdolah formulated the Brachos as such: we open with "Blessed are YOU" and close with "...with HIS commandments." "You" refers to GD's involvement in the world as the King.  GD's attribute of being Infinite who is hidden and out of human comprehension requires us to refer to Him in third person (His) at the summation of a Bracha Gate 2 Chapter 3 pg 80/81

114 Man must eat

H'shem alone determines the deration and story of one's life, man is responsible to be proactive and take all the proper means to protect, support, and "live" his life.  He may not wait and say "If Gd wants me to live He can sustain me without food and I do not have to work to attain it" pg 401   Nefesh Hachaim These are the names of  H'shem that represent the different ways H'shem reveals Himself in the world, according to the action  Elo-him - Strict Justice Tzevas-os - When GD contends with evildoers  E-l Sha'ddai- When He keeps a person's sins pending  H'ashem - Merciful the name that represents compassion   Eh-yeh Asher Eh-yeh- Timeless  Gate 2 Chapter 3 pg 80

113 Mans Obligation

One must pursue the most beneficial means to accomplish his desired goal.   At the same time he must remember and internalize that everything is in the hands of H'shem and He will do what is best and determined according to His infinite wisdom. pg 401 Nefesh Hachaim When Moshe asked H'shem to reveal to him His name so that he may tell Bin Yisroel, H'shem answered that He has many names each one referring to a way in which He reveals himself and behaves towards the world. Gat 2 Chapter 3 pg 80

112 Please increase your presence

H'shem's control over one's life and destiny is absolute.  The only way one can influence or make an effect is if H'shem has given him permission too.  This is in regard to life and death, financial, health, clothing and all other bodily concerns. pg 401 Nefesh Hachaim When we say "Bless you GD" we are asking H'shem to increase his presence in creation. Gate 2 Chapter 2 pg 80
