When one puts his trust in his money, possessions, place of residence, job, those items may not be able to provide him his needs. Only one who trusts in H'shem can be certain he will have what he needs at all times and in all places. One's means of making a living is not an end in itself. When you have a job that makes GD's name great and helps his world the money stays with you in this world and the reward travels up with you to the world to come.

Investing oneself in learning Torah is akin to planting a tree, that grows bear's branches and fruits. Torah L'shma earns one "eternal life and brings an increase of holiness, blessing, and spiritual light to all the higher worlds".
