If a person dies as a result of his carelessness it is as though he committed suicide. Suicide in the Torah is considered murder, the closer one is to the victim of the murder the more he is held accountable and punished. Our lives are a gift entrusted to us by GD and we must be careful at all costs. That being said if he died (GD forbid) it was in accordance with GD's decree and permission.
