Rabbenu Bachya teaches that sometimes a righteous man who trusts in H'shem may hit hard times.
We
accept “H'sehms ways are hidden” even so, Rabbenu gives us a number of possible
explanations:

Punishment for past Averos

The wealth will better
serve him in Olam H'Emet
·
His patience and trust may give
strength to others seeing him go through hard times and continuing on the
correct path of Torah and trust in H’shem (such as Iyov). This is a stark contrast to the way one who
is not serving H'shem with intent would react in difficult times

Nefesh Hachaim
The “Torah is not in Heaven” comes to teach us that no one
today may change a law, or practice from the Torah even if one would hear a “Heavenly
voice” call out from Shamayim. Chankuka
and Purim were both found to have their roots in the Torah which is why they
were allowed to be added
