14 The right focus

One who works and is successful in this world, but did not trust in H'shem only managed to support his physical needs and desires. One who earns a living with complete trust in H'shem will not only have his physical means provided for, that trust will carry him to the next world.

The generation in the Midbar that ate the Mann and had all their needs provided for them did nothing else other then be occupied with serving H'shem. That was the generation that deserved to receive the Torah. In King Shlomo's time the people needed to earn a living but always put Torah first, and on their minds while working. In the Midbar the Kruvim were completely facing each other as Klal Yisroel was doing GD's will. During the time of Shlomo Hamelech they were still facing each other to show our deep connection for H'shem and his love and happiness with us, but they were on a slight angel.

M. Shabbat Segulah

Once, on a Motzoei Shabbos, the chasidim were sitting in the bais medrash of the Ruzhiner Rebbe zy”a for Melave Malka. Suddenly, the Rebbe opened the door of his room next to the bais medrash, stood at the entrance, and said, “The Baal Shem Tov was not a deity, and the zaida, the Magid, was not just an ordinary wagon driver. The Magid approached, picked it up, and put it back in the gartel, but he was trembled with such tremendous fear that he fainted and his life was in danger. The Segulah and the promise of saying Avraham's mother's name

There is a well-known segulah from the Kaf HaChaim citing HaRav Refael Abuchatzera that one who says Avraham Avinu's mother's name אמתלאי בת כרנבו (Amtlai bat Karnevo) 17 times before Oseh Shalom in Shmoneh Esrei is promised they will have chen and will be protected. When Amtlai found out she was pregnant, Nimrod had made a gezeirah that all baby boys were to be killed right after birth, since his advisors had told him a boy would be born who would show the world who the real GD is. Not knowing what to do, she called out: "Whoever the GD of the world is, if this is a boy, save him!" H'shem helped her hide her pregnancy from everyone, including Terach, her husband. When it was time to deliver, she went into a cave and gave birth. It was a boy. She called him Avram. She knew if he was discovered, he would be killed. So again she called out to the wind, "Whoever is in control of the world, please save this child!" and left him in the cave. H'shem again...
