From Him

Rabbenu Bachya writes, "One should not think that his livelihood depends on a particular source and that if that source were to fail there would be no other way for him to earn a living."  We have to take an honest look at how we view our  income.  Do we look at our jobs as being the source or  the tool.  Rabbenu Bachya continues "He will support him by what whatever means  and at any time and from whatever elements He wishes."    We are moments away from the day GD will write us in the book of destiny personal and as a nation.  What H'shem desires to shower upon us or keep from us, has no boundaries not a job and not a lack of one.  Elul is our opportunity to show H'shem that we are worthy of having a healthy Parnasa, and we will make the correct choices when it comes to money, in giving, paying, trusting and being honest. For only GD will decide what we earn  and how He  chooses to send us..

The Segulah and the promise of saying Avraham's mother's name

There is a well-known segulah from the Kaf HaChaim citing HaRav Refael Abuchatzera that one who says Avraham Avinu's mother's name אמתלאי בת כרנבו (Amtlai bat Karnevo) 17 times before Oseh Shalom in Shmoneh Esrei is promised they will have chen and will be protected. When Amtlai found out she was pregnant, Nimrod had made a gezeirah that all baby boys were to be killed right after birth, since his advisors had told him a boy would be born who would show the world who the real GD is. Not knowing what to do, she called out: "Whoever the GD of the world is, if this is a boy, save him!" H'shem helped her hide her pregnancy from everyone, including Terach, her husband. When it was time to deliver, she went into a cave and gave birth. It was a boy. She called him Avram. She knew if he was discovered, he would be killed.
