H’shem takes care of his children.

Rabbenu Bachya brings a beautiful Mashal to how H’shem takes care of his children.  As Dovid Hamelch describes in Tehillim in perek 131 “As a nursing child with its mother”   When a baby is in his mother’s arms he knows she will give him everything he needs because of how much she loves him.  He is not worried or protests his situation; he sleeps peacefully after he is fed not worried when or if there will be another feeding,

.  In this week’s Parsha we learn an important message of H’shem’s devotion to us as a nation.   Most commentaries on the Parsha agree that the punishment Moshe received of not being able to take us into Eretz Yisroel because he hit the rock instead of speaking to it seems extreme.  When we learn the Or H’Chaim’s commentary we gain a better understanding.   Moshe got angry at us   He was human.  We were winning about water when Miriam had just died and speaking behind Moshes back as he tried to find the correct Selah that would replace the water supply.  Out of anger he hits the rock, but also cursed us.  “What will come of you constantly winning and complaining”.  It was at this point that H’shem said to Moshe that he can not lead a nation he does not believe in.   How we have to take this message to our hearts when looking at our fellow Jew, neighbor, spouse, child.   Never can we give up hope. “ AZAMRA” as Breslov refers to every Jew having a spark of Kedusha nomatter who he is or where he is.  In our hearts and our minds we must always look at every Jew as having the potential to be the greatest Tzadik and Tzadakes with a little love and understanding.  H’shem punished his beloved and true servant Moshe because he stopped believing in us.  That means H’shem never will.

The Segulah and the promise of saying Avraham's mother's name

There is a well-known segulah from the Kaf HaChaim citing HaRav Refael Abuchatzera that one who says Avraham Avinu's mother's name אמתלאי בת כרנבו (Amtlai bat Karnevo) 17 times before Oseh Shalom in Shmoneh Esrei is promised they will have chen and will be protected. When Amtlai found out she was pregnant, Nimrod had made a gezeirah that all baby boys were to be killed right after birth, since his advisors had told him a boy would be born who would show the world who the real GD is. Not knowing what to do, she called out: "Whoever the GD of the world is, if this is a boy, save him!" H'shem helped her hide her pregnancy from everyone, including Terach, her husband. When it was time to deliver, she went into a cave and gave birth. It was a boy. She called him Avram. She knew if he was discovered, he would be killed.
